On a stretch of beach in Monterey California, once lay the bones of an old sailing vessel. To my fledgling 10 year old mind in the 1950s the wooden skeleton was that of a pirate ship. Rusted cutlasses and gold doubloons I imagined lay buried nearby. This was the inspiration which lead to an interest in maritime history and the beginning of nautical collecting.

Decades later that interest led me to move along with my budding collection to New England in the early 1980s. Many nautical antiques dealers began as collectors like us.

My career had begun as a graphic artist with McGraw-Hill Publishing Company and later as a freelance artist. But gradually it moved to becoming a full time dealer in maritime artifacts and art.

We carry high quality maritime artifacts, photography, manuscripts focusing on items with historical significance: Whaling including scrimshaw, naval, figureheads and other examples of ship carving. Also feature of fine art, both antique and contemporary.

Since every item we carry is unique, we don't have set shipping charges. Small items we can pack and ship in house at our costs. Large items will be referred to shipping outlets like UPS stores for quotes. Clients may also use their own shipping outlets.

Our clients not only include collectors, but several prominent museums:

Including the Peabody Essex Museum, Mystic Seaport, USS Constitution Museum, among others.
